Permanent marine adhesive and waterproof sealant
3M™ Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 is a one-part, moisture-curing polyurethane designed for permanent marine bonding and sealing. It creates strong, flexible bonds between wood, gelcoat, fibreglass, and other marine materials while forming a watertight, weather-resistant seal around joints and boat hardware.
Marine structures move as they encounter vibration, impact, changing temperatures, and moisture. Once cured, 3M™ Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 forms a firm, rubbery bond that remains flexible enough to absorb stress caused by shock, vibration, swelling, and shrinking.
High-strength polyurethane provides durable assembly of wood, fibreglass, gelcoat, and other marine components.
Forms a weather-resistant seal suitable for marine joints and hardware above and below the waterline.
The cured sealant helps dissipate stress produced by vibration, impact, movement, swelling, and shrinking.
The caulkable consistency fills irregular joints while resisting sagging or flowing in vertical and horizontal seams.
3M™ Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 bonds many dissimilar marine materials. Test the complete substrate combination before use. Metals may require a suitable primer.

Technical values are representative or typical only and are not intended for specification purposes. Cure time and working time vary with temperature, humidity, joint dimensions, substrate, and application conditions.
3M™ Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 is intended for permanent assemblies. It should not be selected where routine disassembly or future hardware removal is expected.
Do not use it as a teak deck seam sealer. It is also not recommended as the sole attachment method for glass, polycarbonate, or acrylic windows without mechanical fastening. Test paint compatibility before coating the cured sealant, particularly with one-part solvent-based marine paints.
Danger: Harmful if inhaled and may cause allergic respiratory or skin reactions. The current Canadian Safety Data Sheet also identifies carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity hazards.
Obtain and review the current product label and Safety Data Sheet before use. Avoid breathing vapours, use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, and wear the protective gloves and respiratory protection required by the workplace hazard assessment. Keep out of reach of children.
Yes. It forms a watertight, weather-resistant seal suitable for properly prepared marine joints and hardware both above and below the waterline.
It is designed for permanent, high-strength assemblies and should not be selected where routine disassembly is required. For assemblies that may need to be taken apart, consider a marine sealant designed for non-permanent bonding.
At 23°C (73°F), the typical tack-free time is approximately 12 hours and the typical cure rate is about 3 mm (1/8 in) every five days. Higher humidity can accelerate surface curing, while low temperature or humidity can extend cure time.
It adheres to many metals and some plastics, but compatibility must be tested. Metals may require a suitable primer, and windows made from glass, acrylic, or polycarbonate should also be mechanically fastened.
