3M™ Scotchcast™ Flame Retardant Compound 2131B is a two-part polyurethane resin designed to replace or repair cable jackets and protect electrical connections in rugged operating environments. Once cured, the black compound provides a semi-flexible, flame-retardant barrier with strong electrical insulation, moisture sealing, and mechanical protection.

Scotchcast™ 2131B combines electrical insulating performance with the flexibility and toughness required for mine, portable, single-core, and multi-core power cables. The closed pouch keeps both components separated until use and supports mixing and pouring without open-container measuring.

Storage and handling

  • Keep the pouch sealed in its protective envelope until immediately before use.
  • In cold conditions, warm the closed pouch to at least 16°C (60°F) before mixing.
  • Mix until the resin reaches a completely uniform colour and consistency, following the applicable 3M instructions.
  • Store factory-sealed packages at 10°C to 27°C (50°F to 80°F) and below 75% relative humidity.
  • Typical shelf life is three years from the manufacturing date when stored as directed.
